Only staff use autoclave, washer and drying oven.
Use DI water for routine tasks, nanopure for critical.
Please return all pans and borrowed equipment.
There are two "pure" water taps in the rooms.
The de-ionized tap is at the sink near the ice machine.
Water quality varies depending on condition of the tanks, but always > 2 Megohm.
Excellent for rinsing glassware and making up non critical solutions.
The NANOPURE tap is at the sink near the ice machine. This water has gone through additional purification and is at least 17 Megohm, with organics removed.
WATER IS ONLY PURE AT TIME OF DISPENSING.
Pure water picks up contamination VERY QUICKLY!
[Within hours is it no longer nanopure]
If you leaving water in any container for weeks at a time it is guaranteed to be contaminated!
The DI water would be just as good as the nano under these conditions.
Return all pans, trays, and tubs to the kitchen after removing clean glassware IMMEDIATELY.
NOTHING BUT CLEAN GLASSWARE is to go into these containers.
ANYONE caught putting anything else into them will GET IT BAD! Some labs have been transporting hazardous waste in the kitchen pans and then returning them to Barbara without cleaning or telling her. I have nothing but extreme contempt for such a person!
AUTOCLAVE see Autoclave
You are not authorized to use the wash machine or the drying oven. Only the glassware tech.
Use a plastic tub with your lab name on it or add a lab card to your tub.
Make sure the glassware tech knows your requirements, soap - no soap, dry - no dry, etc.
Place materials to be washed in the right side of the room across from the large autoclave.
Pick up on the other side across from the small autoclave.
DO NOT LEAVE CARTS IN HALLWAY! EMERGENCY EXIT HAZARD.
There is no guarantee that the ice is free from materials harmful to humans.
The ice from the ice machine is for research purposes only.
DO NOT CONSUME!
Please let Barbara orJudy know if there are any problems.
